    Incorporated in 1872, the city of Brinkley is located in Monroe County approximately 70 miles east of Little Rock. Brinkley was named for the owner of the Little Rock and Memphis Rail Road, Robert Cambell Brinkley. Before Brinkley existed, there was only a settlement called Lick Skillet. That name came from how rail road builders finished their dinner by licking the skillets after a day's work. As of the 2010 census, Brinkley had a total population of 3,188 residents.
